Cacophone
New mini-project in electronics, to prep for a rather giant synthesizer I'm hoping to build. The cacophone is a personal noise generator created by running a current through a hacked up pair of headphones. The oscillators in the headphones interpret the signal as music and create tones, which can then be altered by changing the voltage of the transformer input (increase in volts increases frequency) or by toggling the switch to change the pathway (two pathways with different resistances for different pitches). Rhythm and scratches can be created by tapping the +/- nodes, which disrupts the flow of electricity.
Personal music: the sound can be created, but it's totally individual and un-recordable. The sound only exists for the listener, so if the operator has the headphones on it's truly a creation of music for the self only.

Zine Making and Live Drawing Practice
Hadn't drawn from life in ages, so this session was a lot of fun and a chance to brush up a bit. For the hour or so leading up to the figure drawing session some folks from White Rabbit Society assembled zines in the studio in preparation for our release party on Thursday night.

Hope Springs Eternal
Hope springs eternal in the human breast;
Man never Is, but always To be blest:
The soul, uneasy and confin'd from home,
Rests and expatiates in a life to come.

Meet Bob.
Bob has a dream-- that someday he'll float amongst the clouds.
So Bob buys an Acme brand personal helicopter.
He assembles it and straps it on.
He inserts the chargers into the fuel pack.
And gets ready to launch.
Hope springs eternal.
Watch a video of the helicopter in action. Motor circuit wired into a 3-12V transformer. Placed on a flat table it actually rumbles around the table pretty quickly.
Greatest Goodwill Run Ever
Giant statue, plastic truck driver, weird Japanese anime cup for whiskey, and got a new lucky dollar as change after the disappearance of the William Henry Harrison gold dollar. Big things are coming.

Electro-Lizard
Electro-Lizard plush, a first venture into homemade electronics.
Handmade components: test leads, internal circuit with LEDs and resistors, lizard hand stitched from the "Hooper" model, stuffed with cotton from an old watch case pillow.
Except for the tubes sticking out of him, he's kind of cute. Also a guaranteed fire hazard if left plugged in.
