Heavenly Bodies

Heavenly Bodies is a series of oil paintings inspired by the work of Egon Schiele. Taken to its absurd extreme, Schiele's fetishizations of specific, minimal portions of the human body become objects of veneration, while the rest of the figure withers away completely. These paintings range from a few square centimeters to over a square meter. These paintings seek to answer a question: what does a really sexy gallbladder look like, and who would be into that? Gold metallic fields and mosaic materials are used to create a mode of viewing separate from pure visual analysis-- a mode of adoration, not dissection.
